Chelsea Property Area London

Chelsea, long favoured by artists when it was poor and shabby and now by the great and good. It is a leafy and pleasant area substantially covered with fine period buildings and currently served by one underground station at Sloane Square and a good variety of bus routes.

In the last few years, there has been quiet planning for London’s Cross Rail 2 line which is intended to run below King’s road in the south-westerly direction and presents the opportunity for a secondary station in Chelsea, either in the area of the fire station on Kings Road or at Worlds End a mile further down. This has not found favour with current residents because it is likely to cause heavy disruption during the construction process, affect the property market, unbalance the already busy Chelsea Village area with a second station and lead to increased pedestrian and retail activity in the area of the intended new station in a location that is already busy.

Action groups are pressurising the relevant authorities and it remains to be seen how this will evolve in the future.
